July 2026 Release

Introducing Assessments

This release introduces a full assessment platform built into R1 Discover. Organizations can now deliver standardized, evidence-based instruments — including the PHQ-9, WHOQOL-BREF, and RCS-36 — or build their own custom assessments from scratch.

  • For learners: a clean, accessible assessment experience with a personal "My Assessments" area to browse available assessments, pick up where you left off, and review your past results. Results are presented visually with clear scoring and, where configured, severity bands that make scores meaningful at a glance.

  • For facilitators and staff: assign assessments through engagements, share them with a link or QR code, and follow completion from a per-user assessment log. Responses that need attention can automatically notify the right staff for follow-up.

  • For administrators: a drag-and-drop assessment builder with sections, branching, scoring, and versioning; a results dashboard that adapts to each instrument; and an analytics suite with cohort filters, demographics, and CSV/PDF exports. Small-group results are automatically suppressed to protect individual privacy.

Text message (SMS) notifications

Members can now choose to receive text message notifications in addition to email and in-app alerts.

  • Opting in is simple and secure: verify your phone number once and choose which notifications you'd like by text from your settings page.

  • Messages respect quiet hours (configurable per organization, timezone-aware), and replying STOP at any time turns them off instantly.

  • Texts are deliberately content-free — they let you know something needs your attention and link you into the app, so no personal information ever travels by SMS.

Stronger account security: two-factor authentication

Administrator accounts now support modern two-factor authentication, including verification codes by text message, with a redesigned sign-in verification screen. Organizations can require 2FA enrollment for their admin users.

A more polished member experience

  • The member settings page has been fully modernized with a cleaner layout and clearer organization.

  • A redesigned sidebar profile card and accessible avatar menu make it easier to get to your profile and settings.

  • Activity and video logs, account pages, and user tables now work beautifully on phones — tables become easy-to-read cards, and toolbars adapt to small screens.

  • Older in-app notifications are now tidied up automatically, keeping your notification tray focused on what's current.

Engagements improvements

  • Assessments are now a first-class content type in engagements — assign them, track them, and report on them alongside your other content.

  • A new assessment-specific engagement report shows completion KPIs, score distribution, and in-progress participants at a glance.

  • Browsing and adding content to an engagement is faster with a new content browse experience and improved participant search.

Technical details

For administrators and technical teams, this release also includes:

  • Assessments platform: versioned assessment definitions with JSON import/export, per-dimension severity bands, multi-level scoring for nested instruments, response-flag routing with audited acknowledgement, streaming CSV exports and queued PDF report generation, and a research export pipeline with pseudonymized data and audited downloads.

  • Access control: tiered assessment permissions with facility/program scoping, and privacy-hardened handling of assessment responses throughout (access is audited, and analytics suppress groups smaller than five).

  • SMS infrastructure: Twilio-backed delivery with API-key authentication, delivery-status webhooks, automatic disable on bounced numbers, STOP/START keyword handling, and a transactional queue that prioritizes time-sensitive messages.

  • Notifications: per-type auto-archiving of in-app notifications (default 14 days) and SMS as a standard channel in member notification preferences.

  • EHR integration: a new Netsmart connector in the Integration Hub, including MDM push support.

  • Accessibility: all new interfaces built to WCAG 2.1 AA, including full keyboard navigation and screen-reader support in the assessment runner and builder.

  • Numerous fixes and refinements across activity logs, assessment results styling, mobile layouts, and admin navigation.
